Artist Statement

All my life, curiosity and sensibility have been my twin motors, and my work is the ongoing documentation of always partial answers to the questions that concern me most. My method is simple, but essential: I experience the world through my senses. My reality is composed of sensations, which are the sources of my knowledge, and so I am constantly searching for new and different ways to keep those sensations alive and speaking to me.

In my continuous engagement with my senses, I archive emotions, thoughts, ideas, questions, desires, and situations, and so I am always exploring different media to allow me to preserve my experiences in forms which are as pure and clear as possible. Still, photography is my natural language. One could well call my approach visual, but I think of myself mainly as a light-beholder and writer-apprentice: I feel the light and then try to freeze that sensation, and the result of this process is a picture which carries and communicates that feeling.

Because I collect and relay sensations through my art, I deal with that greatest of existential phenomena: Time. Consciously and unconsciously, I play with that beautiful, indefinite progress in which people get lost. Sometimes, through my documentation process, I feel that I am defeating Time, and then I realize that I am just witnessing this mysterious quality of life, capturing its elusive but ever-present fingerprints.

Although I will always be committed to photography, I remain dedicated to experimenting with different artistic languages and media in my pursuit of finding the best ways to preserve the ephemeral. Sculpture shows me ways to shape a feeling, animations brings to life my waking dreams, coding teaches me to sketch magic….
